-Annie Weiler received a grant from the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council (FLEPPC) Julia Norton Research Program for $2400
-Sarah Johnson received a Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Grant
-Angela Tringali received an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Honorable Mention, as well as a research award from the American Ornithologists Union: Alternative explanations for the evolution of ornamental traits: tests of multiple hypotheses in juvenile Florida
Scrub-Jays (Aphelocoma coerulescens). Award $2500.
-Camille Brescacin was awarded a grant of $1,000 by the Society of Wetland Scientists
-Leilani Pasicolan was awarded a Sigma Xi grant
- Allyson Fenwick was published in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society - titled "Phylogeny and classification of South American pitvipers, genera Bothrops, Bothriopsis and Bothrocephias." (Let's give a shout out to Linneaus!)
- Tyler Hether and Mary Beth Manjerovic won Sigma Xi grants
Jan 2009 - Kim Medley won a travel grant to attend th International Biogeography Society for Meeting in Merida, Mexico
2008
2008 - Mary Beth Manjerovic - had two (count 'em, two) manuscripts accepted to the Journal of Zoology and the American Midland Naturalist. She also was awarded the graduate studies research award.
- Tyler Hether had a manuscript accepted as a co-author
- Jill Aldredge won the Florida Ornithologists' Society researach award
Dec. 2008 - VP Christina Trexler successfully defended her oral proposal defense on some invasive snail or something
Aug. 2008 - Members Tangi Smallwood and David Rogers began PhD programs at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke, respectively
Sept. 2008 - member Rachel Morgan began work with the Department of Defense as part of SMART scholarship rewards
May 2008 - Member Katie Windes successfully defended her proposal
Mar. 2008 - Member James Angelo received the best student poster award at the Southern Forestry and Natural Resource Management GIS Conference (SOFOR GIS 2008) in Kissimmee, FL for his study entitled: Using LiDAR and Field Data to Analyze Canopy Structure in a Sand Pine Forest. Co-authors were John F. Weishampel, Hilary M. Swain, and Edwin M. Everham III.
Jan. 2008 - Member James Angelo received funding from the NSF-sponsored National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping (NCALM) for his project entitled: Identification of Optimal Habitat for the Florida Scrub-Jay (Aphelocoma coerulescens) Using ALSM Data.
2007 & before
Oct. 2005 - Former Treasurer Lisa McCauley had an article accepted for publication in the journal Ecological Applications titled, "GIS-based estimates of former and current depressional wetlands in an agricultural landscape." (volume 15, pp. 1199-1208) with professor David Jenkins.
Aug. 2005: Former President Joyce Marie Brown was awarded STAR Fellowship.
