As most people who are addicted to training retrievers for what they were breed for, I wanted a well-trained retriever for hunting waterfowl and pheasants. I have to credit Roman Eckols, Jim Klemp and Stan Priski for introducing me to hunting behind well trained retrievers. We currently have three dogs, Laird's Black Molly, Laird's Clear Blue Sky and Laird's Cynful Elegence. Molly, my first dog, has been retired and she is now our my fulltime companion, she goes to the office with me multiple days a week and sleeps in her chair when at home. Blue is a pup from Molly's second litter with "Bubba"and was trained by Chuck Dygos of HyWater Kennels. Our newest edition is Ellie, she is out of FC-AFC Hawkeye's Candlewood Shadow and Lean Mac Lady Velvet***, and she is our next field trial prospect. She is currently in training at Alecia Ridge Retrievers with Bo Taylor.

Molly was born August 6, 1994 in Louisville, KY. The breeder was Gary Hardin at Bluegrass Kennels (502)267-7080. Her sire is I AM's Special Saks SH (deceased; owned by Roman Eckols) and her damn is HRCH Sweetheart Raven (deceased; Gary Hardin). I have owned Molly since she was a pup. She is a small boned lab and weighs only 50 lb. Molly and I traveled to Kansas in 1997 to train with Jay Stine of Moon Creek Kennels. Molly remained with Jay for 3 months. During the spring of 1998, I found out about AKC Hunt tests and decided to run Molly. After a slow start in the senior, we went five for five, and we earned her title. Molly has been bred to FC-AFC Hilltop's Hayseed " Bubba" twice.Pups from both litters have derby points and have earned hunt test titles. Cynthia and I currently run a yellow male from her second litter in field trials and hunt tests.
